<p>Jerry Shea welcomed everybody and mentioned that this is the last meeting of the season. The next meeting will be in September. Members of the Community Council will be getting a letter of welcome back and a schedule of upcoming meetings in the new season in August. Nominations for officers will be at the September meeting, elections to be held in October. In order to be eligible to vote, you must attend 3 meetings during the year.</p>
<p>Deputy Inspector Lehr welcomed everybody to meeting. His position started in January 4, 2010 and he has been very happy with the turnout for the Community Council meetings. Overall crime is down by 5.8% since the first of the year. 28 day average is down 16.5%, and last weeks average is down 37.9%. Inspector Lehr mentioned that there will be low flying planes over the Hudson River later this week. This is because of an air show, and there is no need for any worry.</p>
<p>Resident spoke about a garden lot on East 2nd. Street between Second and Third Avenue. Conditions are much better and much cleaner. She thanked the Precinct for their response and requested to continue their drive bys.</p>
<p>Resident spoke about President Jerry Shea being the best Council President in New York. He also stated that the NYPD has the best record of all city agencies. &#8220;They do the most with less&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Resident on East 7th. Street between 1st. and 2nd. Avenue complained about excessive noise from Bar 81 on East 7th. Street it is also very congested with patrons late at night.<br />
She has called the police and they have been very responsive. Lt.Ferguson has spoken to the manager about the situation. The manager was there at the meeting and was willing to speak with the resident after the meeting.</p>
<p>Resident on Bleeker Street complained about VON, a bar. Generally speaking noise and patron congestion has subsided, but it does still get bad. Resident asked, that since owner lives across the street of the establishment, is it unlawful for him to go there and ring the owner’s doorbell at 2am? Would that be considered harassment? Lt. Fergusson was there, and aware of situation and is monitoring location it. Inspector Lehr said that it is not unlawful to ring a doorbell, but it is not neighborly. In a noise complaint with an establishment. See if there is a night that is worse then others. There are events at establishments and certain theme nights that would account for it. Let the police know. And let them follow up. Linda Jennet from DA Vance&#8217;s office was there and assured the resident and members that their office does listen to, and follows up with all complaints. They work very closely with the police. Do not hesitate to call her office.</p>
<p>Resident on East 7th. Street Between 1st Avenue and Avenue A was complaining about 122 1st  Avenue, Establishment , Manassas, very loud noise, There is also 2 other establishments ,International, South Brooklyn Pizza. They all have backyard gardens .His apartment is facing the courtyard which is next to them. Resident asked if they are allowed to be there and serve as cafe. Inspector Lehr said that they can utilize their backyards for commercial activity, but need license to serve alcohol. Susan Seltzer, District Manager did say that the Community Board is aware of situation and has been talking to the SLA about Manassas.</p>
<p>Resident on East 10th.Street said people are starting to getting &#8220;wasted&#8221; and creeping back to the area near St. Marks Church. Overall the situation improved greatly and she thanked the police.</p>
<p>Resident was worried about a Verizon Cable box, connecting landlines would be in jeopardy of falling. Inspector Lehr suggested calling and following up with Verizon.</p>
<p>Resident asked about green line being painted on Second Avenue. District Manager Seltzer said it was a result of select bus service for the M15 Bus.</p>
<p>Gerard Manager of Webster Hall said that there will be a community forum sometime in July regarding issues with Webster Hall and surrounding area. Date as yet, undetermined.</p>
<p>Rosemary Yu ADA from the District Attorneys office introduced herself. She spoke about an exciting new initiative that is coming from DA Vance.  New Crime Strategy, there are 5 areas in Manhattan 3 in the north and 2 in the south. This will be set up to help prosecutors and police alike utilizing intelligence and investigative analysis for prosecution. Ms. Yu is assigned to this area, and will be working with this. She is looking forward to meeting people, talking and working with everyone.</p>
<p>President Shea reminded everyone of National Night Out on Tuesday August 3. He also reminded about Cop of Month on October 14.</p>
